Description
Are you passionate about drivetrain testing and delivering high‑quality engineering data in a fast‑paced motorsport environment? We are looking for a
T&D Gearbox Test Engineer to plan, execute and analyse gearbox, clutch and differential testing—supporting performance, reliability and continual development of our race car.
This role places you at the centre of our transmission development programme, working with state‑of‑the‑art dynos and test rigs alongside Controls, Design and Planning teams.
Key Responsibilities
As a key member of the Test & Development team, you will:
- Plan, run and analyse drivetrain tests on gearbox, clutch and differential rigs.
- Translate engineering requests into structured test plans, including rig setup, instrumentation and drive files.
- Manage test schedules, deliverables and priorities to ensure requirements are met on time.
- Develop a deep understanding of gearbox dynos, test rigs and supporting systems.
- Analyse test data and develop post‑processing tools and algorithms.
- Communicate test results clearly using standard reporting templates and systems.
- Support continuous improvement of test methods, instrumentation, equipment and procedures.
- Coordinate workloads and resources with Test Technicians to maximise throughput.
- Provide regular progress updates and early identification of risks to the Lead Engineer.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
We’re looking for someone technically strong, organised and comfortable working under pressure:
- Degree‑level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Previous experience in a similar test role within a motorsport environment.
- Strong understanding of physics and engineering fundamentals.
- Knowledge of sensors, data acquisition, analogue and digital signals.
- Experience developing data analysis or post‑processing tools (Python, MATLAB or similar).
- Ability to work calmly under tight timelines in a high‑performance environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive, enthusiastic and reliable approach to work
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
