Description
We are seeking a talented and driven Transmission Design Engineer to join our Transmission Department at our Silverstone facility. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of motorsport engineering, designing and developing innovative transmission components that contribute directly to on-track performance.
As part of a highly skilled engineering team, you will play a key role in the concept, design, testing and development of complex mechanical components, helping to drive continuous performance improvements in one of the most pioneering engineering environments in the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative mechanical design concepts for transmission-related components and assemblies.
- Create detailed engineering drawings to support manufacturing and production activities.
- Support projects throughout assembly, testing and development phases.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues, providing practical engineering solutions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, methodologies and concepts.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians and other stakeholders across the team.
- Participate actively in design reviews, fault finding and technical meetings.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of engineering best practice, emerging technologies and Formula 1 regulations.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Ideally, experience working on transmission systems or high-performance vehicle components.
- Experience producing detailed designs and engineering drawings for complex mechanical assemblies within demanding timescales.
- Strong CAD skills, ideally with Catia V6. Training will be provided for those converting from other CAD systems.
- Knowledge of involute gear design is an advantage.
- Experience with Romax Designer, KISSsoft or SMT MASTA is desirable.
- An understanding of ISO 6336 and/or experience with designing splines preferred.
- Self-motivated, reliable and committed with a proactive approach to work.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to adapt within a constantly evolving environment.
