Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a CAD/CAM Programmer to join our Model Machine Shop. You will be responsible for producing high-quality CNC programs and supporting machining operations to ensure components are delivered right first time and on schedule. You will work closely with the Machine Shop Leader, CNC Programmers, Machinists, and Inspection to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. This role requires technical excellence, strong leadership qualities, and the ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating, verifying, and optimising CNC programs using Openmind Hypermill.
- Interpreting complex technical drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
- Support delegation of work to machinists on the shop floor.
- Ensure parts are delivered on time and to exacting standards.
- Review and continuously improve machining processes, methods, work holding and tooling.
- Organise and manage Shop Orders effectively.
- Maintain accurate ERP system transactions.
- Promote strong communication between shifts.
- Support Quality Assurance activities within the department.
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism and flexibility.
- Meet the demands of busy production periods.
- Undertake additional duties aligned with your role as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Excellent working knowledge of Openmind Hypermill.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and apply advanced machining methods.
- Deep understanding of work holding and tooling strategies.
