Description
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Manager to lead the delivery of payroll, pensions and benefits administration. Working closely with a managed payroll provider, you will ensure payroll operations are accurate, compliant and efficient, while driving continuous improvement across payroll and reward processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of monthly UK payroll and benefits administration, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
- Manage the relationship with the third-party payroll provider, ensuring service quality, compliance and operational excellence
- Perform detailed payroll validation checks including statutory payments, maternity pay, National Minimum Wage and payroll reconciliations
- Ensure all payroll controls, governance processes and audit documentation are completed accurately and on schedule
- Oversee payroll processing activities including new starters, leavers, contractual changes, terminations and benefits administration
- Manage complex payroll and benefits queries with professionalism, discretion and a strong customer-focused approach
- Administer pension schemes and auto-enrolment processes, ensuring compliance and effective employee communication
- Partner closely with Finance to support payroll accounting activities, journals, reconciliations and reporting requirements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across payroll, pensions and reward processes to enhance efficiency, compliance and employee experience
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- CIPP qualification (or equivalent payroll experience) with strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory compliance
- Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll within a high-volume and complex organisation
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail, including payroll validation and reporting
- Sound understanding of pensions, salary sacrifice schemes and employee benefits administration
- Experience working with HR/payroll systems such as HiBob or similar platforms
- Ability to identify process improvements and implement operational efficiencies across payroll activities
- Confident leadership and coaching capability with experience developing team knowledge and performance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially
