Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.
Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.
The new team has three locations. The Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Sauber Motorsport Technical Center, UK will be operational this year. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.

The position for the Audi F1 Project is to be filled at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).
In the field of high-voltage storage development, you will work on the key component of electric high-performance drive systems and play your part in ensuring we are able to succeed in a highly competitive environment. You will be involved in areas ranging from requirements management and methods development to the detailed design for HV battery concepts and HV electronics as well as battery cell definitions for high-performance motorsports applications, and you will accompany your development through assembly all the way to the tests on the in-house test facility.
This position is available starting January 1, 2026.
Your Mission
- Development and design in the field of high-voltage batteries for use in Formula 1 vehicles
- Consideration of mechanical, thermal and electrical requirements for the integration of high-voltage batteries into the overall power unit system
- Collaborating with the simulation, manufacturing and testing departments to optimise components in terms of performance and reliability
- Creating and maintaining CAD models, drawings and parts lists using CATIA V5 and PDM/PLM systems
- Selecting suitable materials and manufacturing processes
- Further developing production and assembly technologies and creating manufacturing and assembly instructions
- Tracking and analysing findings from tests and races to derive design improvements
- Conducting design reviews, creating assembly instructions and technical documentation
- Cross-departmental collaboration in the development and design of the Energy Recovery System (ERS)
Your Profile
- Degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, aerospace engineering or similar
- Several years of professional experience in the design of ERS systems in motorsport
- Several years of design experience in part and surface design (Catia V5), including the creation of manufacturing drawings
- Experience in selecting suitable high-performance materials for a wide range of applications
- Understanding of the electrical, thermal and structural requirements of high-voltage batteries
- Experience in the design of fibre composite components and in the field of high-voltage batteries, battery junction boxes and power electronics is an advantage
- Strong implementation skills and a high degree of motivation and initiative
- Strong team player
- Goal-oriented, independent and structured way of working
- Business fluent German or English skills and a willingness to learn basic skills in the other language are required
