Since the 2026 season, Audi has been competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
The new team has three locations. The Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Formula 1 factory of Audi Motorsport AG in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Audi Motorsport Technology Center in UK is in its launch phase and growing continuously. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.

Our internships as well as thesis projects last at least four months, are full-time, and we offer fair compensation.
This position is scheduled to start from October 2026. This position is to be filled at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).
In your role as an intern, you will support the team in developing real-time target Hardware-in-the-Loop software. Here you can develop digital twins of our F1 power unit and car and test actual ECU software which runs our R26 car.
Your Mission
- Model-based software development in MATLAB/Simulink
- Development and testing of MATLAB/Simulink-based tools
- Embedded software testing validation on HIL systems
- Data analysis to validate the functionality of digital-twin PU models
- Test Automation development
- Collaborate with SW Controls Team in HIL daily operations
Your Profile
- You have successfully completed your undergraduate studies in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a comparable field
- You possess very good knowledge of Simulink modeling and MATLAB programming
- You have an interest in coding/modeling for real-time systems
- Knowledge of modern hybrid powertrains is an advantage
- You have strong critical thinking skills when developing and evaluating new ideas
- A structured and analytical way of thinking is one of your strengths
- A goal-oriented, independent, and structured way of working comes naturally to you
- Strong implementation skills as well as a high level of motivation and initiative are among your strengths
- You are a strong team player
- Good English skills complete your profile (German is an advantage but not mandatory)
