Description

As our Lead Technical Buyer - Composites, you will be at the forefront of sourcing high-performance composite components and assemblies that directly influence the performance, reliability, and competitiveness of our Formula One car.
This role is central to securing a world-class, agile supply chain that delivers the right parts, at the right time, at the highest quality. You’ll work closely with Design, Manufacturing, Car Build, Race Team, and Supplier Quality to ensure our composite supply base is robust, responsive, and continuously improving.
As a senior member of the Direct Procurement function, you will support departmental strategy, mentor colleagues, lead cross-functional projects, and act as deputy to the Direct Procurement Manager - shaping the future capability of the team and contributing to our pursuit of success on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the procurement and expediting of composite components, ensuring Quality, Cost, and Lead Time (QCL) targets are consistently achieved.
- Maintain clear, proactive communication with stakeholders, ensuring ERP and MRP systems reflect accurate, timely supply data.
- Evaluate and manage composite suppliers to ensure full capability, compliance, and alignment with AMF1 technical and quality standards.
- Partner with Supplier Quality to identify, onboard, and develop a high-performing composite supply chain.
- Mentor colleagues, support onboarding, and contribute to team leadership, acting as deputy during Direct Procurement Manager absence.
- Support and influence composite sourcing strategy, driving improvements in lead time, agility, cost efficiency, and supply resilience.
- Lead procurement projects and represent the department in cross-functional initiatives to strengthen operational performance.
- Drive continuous improvement across procurement processes, KPIs, reporting, and ways of working.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of Bill of Materials (BoM) structures and their application in planning, manufacturing, and composite component lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of composite manufacturing processes, including layup, autoclave cycles, machining, and assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD data, and technical specifications for complex composite parts.
- Solid experience using ERP/MRP systems to manage procurement and supply chain activity in a high-pressure environment.
- Proven track record procuring technical or composite components within Formula One or a similar advanced engineering sector.
- Exceptional problem-solving capability, able to anticipate risks and deliver practical, high-quality solutions.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across technical and operational teams.
- Highly organised and delivery-focused, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously.
